Silly Gift Ideas

If there’s one thing most people appreciate, it’s a silly gift. You can bring a smile to their face and make an impression. Of course, you have to make sure the gift is appropriate and not accidentally embarrassing. Then again, embarrassing gifts are pretty normal in some situations, such as 50th birthdays.

How about unusual clocks? Maybe they talk, maybe they change colors, maybe they run backwards or are oddly numbered.

If you want silly and perhaps a little annoying, singing stuffed animals may just fit the bill. Chickens that do the Chicken Dance, monkeys that crash their cymbals, Furbies… kids love them, but they drive adults nuts. Read the rest of this entry »

Getting Gift Ideas

How do you come up with gift ideas? It can be such a headache, even if you know the recipient well. I know I dread shopping for my husband. However, with a little thought I generally come up with something perfect for him without resorting to his Amazon Wish List. I do so love to surprise him!

I start by thinking of what the person I am shopping for enjoys. My husband can be hard to shop for, since he rarely says what he wants, but I know he enjoys a wide range of subjects. Like me, he’s something of a geek, so gadgets appeal to him quite a bit.

He also enjoys antiques. I don’t mean flowery tea cups… although he can appreciate them, I don’t think he’d enjoy one as a gift. Just not his style. But he loves old tools, ironwork, old books and so forth. Read the rest of this entry »
